yeah.. I've encountered some problems too.. but it's in development and you can post bug reports ;) so it's not that bad.. and there's problem that it doesn't upgrade it's repository automaticly so you can find some outdated versions there.. but it's still worth checking ;)
mostly I like the idea of it - separated install of games in one directory

 Steam.

Well, the hints are somehow obvious.

The mac version contains a lot of hints of an linux version, also some sources say it is allready confirmed by steam:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/7715209/Steam-for-Mac-goes-live.html
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=valve_steam_announcement&num=1

However, as a personal preference I probably won't ue it much because of DRM and that shit. But I guess it is a big step forward for Games on Linux since it will most likely give a big marketing effect.

I would like to agree with you about those hints.
However they can't really assure us that a Linux version of Steam WILL be developed.

In fact I assume that this is only a way for Steam to know how much success a Linux version of Steam would grant him.
But Phoronix is now acting like it's official : in that way Steam MAY feel like they have to develop that Linux version. I wouldn't count on that of course.

The better way to get a Steam for Linux is, as they're trying to know if it would be worth the cost, to show Valve that we really want that client and that we're willing to pay for the game they may provide to the Linux platform.

Many commercial games will public the source code after big cash load thanks to humble-indie-bundle project and open source community.

It's great, because I will have two things: a great game(Penumbra) and source code to create other great game.

7 Kingdoms is old, but great real time strategy game. It don't focus on military aspect, but spies, loyalty, trade, diplomacy.

In this game people can disagree with you and go rebel. You can achieve win by sabotage enemy actions, bribe enemy soldiers, sow disent in enemy's vilages, trading, giving work for your or other people, etc. You spies can kill enemy king and join to homewar as generals.

I'm running a Mumble server which is pretty much idle all the time. Just
want to let you know you can freely use it for your gaming needs. I've
set up a few channels for (opensource) games according to the game
list on our group page. If there's something missing just drop me a msg
or mail. The server in question is: deltaquadrant.org and located in
germany. You can find it in the Mumble server browser list (it also has a
valid SSL certificate for whom it matters).VV

Glad to see springrts mentioned. I've been playing spring games online for a couple years so if you have any trouble getting it set up, feel free to ask me for help.

A couple of spring games are nominees in the Digital Man Competition btw ;)
