Any way to display running time in tenths of a second?

Multimedia - Dec 29 2013
not answered
Question:I'm using VLC player, v2.0.8 Twoflower (Intel 64bit) to view .mts videos of African spotted hyenas; I'm a field biologist and these are research videos.

I need to display the timing of the files down to tenths of a second and the standard display is only minutes/seconds.

I found links here to an add-on "time.lua" offered about a year and a half ago as either a download or a script:

https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 9&start=20

but it won't download from any of my browsers and I don't have the faintest idea how to actually add program script to an application.

Did I mention I am completely useless with respect to programming? I do know a bit about hyenas....

I tried ctrl-clicking and using "Save Link As..." to download the time.lua add-on, but then realized that the short description of how to install it for Mac tells you to create a directory ("/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/") that doesn't seem to conform to how the current OS (I'm on 10.8.5) is organized. It also mentions that the resulting toggle will show up in the "View" menu, which doesn't exist in my VLC player.

So I'm thinking that last summer's add-on is already obsolete or incompatible, and wondering if anyone else has solved this problem.

Has anyone built a more recent add-on for this feature? Or is there a way to refit that time.lua script for a current Mac setup?

Sorry for posting a programming-illiterate question. (also I posted a version of this on the videolan forum as well. Hope that's kosher. I'm not an add-on trolling robot.)
